“Awakenings” Published in Boundless Anthology

My short story, “Awakenings,” was published in Boundless, An Anthology of Prose. The editor, David G. Collins wrote this description of my story in his introduction: In “Awakenings” Linda Johnson asks “What would happen if a middle-aged man, seemingly happy in his marriage but uncomfortable for years in his male body, decided one day to take action and shared the news with his wife and family?” The result is a tender account of a man and a woman, their son and daughter, struggling as they awaken in so many ways to a new reality—a story as brave as it is honest.

“Crossing Guard” Published in New Anthology

My flash fiction story, “Crossing Guard,” was published in the anthology, The Collection: Flash Fiction for Flash Memory. This special anthology is targeted to adults struggling with memory loss. With each story only 500-750 words, the anthology offers an opportunity for families, friends and caregivers to share the magic of reading with their loved ones who may no longer be able to read and enjoy a full-length novel.

The anthology is available for purchase at Amazon.

Our book launch and reading was held at the Orange County Library in Hillsborough, NC on March 2nd. We also had readings at the Chapel Hill Library (March 19th) and at the Seymour Senior Center in Chapel Hill (March 24th). We have additional readings scheduled in Greensboro, Pittsboro, and Chapel Hill.

The book has received 15 5-star reviews to-date and has been an Amazon best-seller. I’m honored to be included in this wonderful collection.

“All Clear” Published in 2017 Carolina Crimes Anthology

My short story, “All Clear” was published in the 2017 anthology, Carolina Crimes: 21 Tales of Need, Greed and Dirty Deeds. We had a book launch party on August 19th at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village, Pittsboro. The launch party featured refreshments, readings & signings by myself and nine other of the anthology’s authors.

Best-selling mystery/suspense author, Jeffrey Deaver, wrote the introduction:

“The Carolinas boast some of the finest crime writers ever to set ink to paper and pixels to disk, as this Sisters in Crime anthology attests. Just like a Carolina Sunday supper, these stories dish up a variety of styles, tones and tastes, from procedurals to cozies to dark psychological thrillers. Pour yourself a tall sweet tea or a couple of fingers of bourbon, sit back and dig in.”

Look for the anthology at your local bookstores or on Amazon.

“Love’s Burden” Published in Crossing Lines Anthology

My short story “Love’s Burden” was published by Main Street Rag in their Crossing Lines anthology.

The idea for my story was inspired by a news story about a Durham, North Carolina man who was found carrying a woman’s bones in his backpack. He had murdered her and then subsequently carted her bones around for a couple of years before being arrested. Which proves that sometimes real life is even more surreal than imagined stories.
